What is actually happening in your body when you go into ketosis?
When your body runs out of available carbohydrates, it will make ketones out of fat (fatty acids). It can make ketones out of fat from food or from your own body fat.
Side note: Ketones are anti-inflammatory! This is one of the reasons keto is used so often as a therapuetic tool.
Once you have TRAINED your body to use fat for fuel (like it was always supposed to!), you will no longer be DEPENDENT on glucose for energy. That makes weight loss and optimal metabolic health so much easier in the long run.
