Welcome to Week 2!
Macronutrients and your gut microbiome:
When you make a shift in macronutrient ratios (proteins, fats, carbs), your gut microbiome will also shift.
It can take a few days for your body to begin producing sufficient enzymes to break down the new shift in macronutrients.
The enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates is called amylase. If you experience constipation or bloating as you adjust to this macronutrient ratio, you may want to get a digestive enzyme, preferably one with betaine HCL, which increases stomach acid and helps you extract nutrients from your food, and amylase (they should almost all have that). Only take one with Betaine HCL in the middle of meals.
